Editor's take
Sony's lighter, more affordable 70-200mm G-series telephoto with a constant f/4 aperture — this listing is an Amazon Renewed (refurbished) unit, backed by Amazon's renewed warranty.
The SEL70200G is the lighter, more affordable sibling to Sony's f/2.8 GM telephoto zooms, trading one stop of light for a significantly smaller and lighter lens that's easier to carry for travel and everyday telephoto work. Built-in Optical SteadyShot and a weather-resistant build make it a dependable choice for outdoor shooting.
This specific listing is an Amazon Renewed unit — professionally inspected and tested to work and look like new, with a shorter warranty than a factory-new purchase (90 days per this listing). It's a good way to get into Sony's G-series telephoto lineup at a meaningfully lower price than buying new.
Pros
- Significantly lighter than f/2.8 telephoto options
- Built-in Optical SteadyShot stabilization
- Lower price as an Amazon Renewed unit
Cons
- f/4 aperture is a stop slower than GM 70-200mm options
- Renewed unit carries a shorter warranty than new
- Cosmetic condition may vary being a used unit
Ideal for: Photographers who want a lighter, more affordable 70-200mm telephoto and are comfortable buying renewed.
