Editor's take
Apple's latest GPS smartwatch layers deeper heart-health tracking (background HR checks, HRV, blood oxygen, sleep score) and Apple Intelligence-powered Siri features onto the familiar Apple Watch formula, at a premium price point.
The Series 12 leans hard into health tracking: heart rate variability checks roughly every 5 minutes, background heart rate every 5 seconds, blood oxygen, sleep score and a Vitals app that pulls it all together into a daily readiness picture. Fall and crash detection with automatic emergency calling carry over as safety features, and Siri now runs on-device Apple Intelligence for faster, more capable requests plus a new Recap feature.
Battery life is rated at 24 hours with a 15-minute fast charge to 12 hours — in line with every prior Apple Watch generation, but notably shorter than most Android and Garmin smartwatches, which routinely run for several days per charge. That's the trade-off for the OLED Always-On Retina display and tight iPhone integration.
Worth flagging plainly: this specific listing has only 2 reviews behind its 5.0 rating, so treat the perfect score as an early signal rather than a proven track record. Amazon's own spec table for this listing was also thin — it didn't publish an official water-resistance rating or watch weight, so we've left those as unconfirmed rather than guess at a number.
Pros
- Deep, frequent heart-health tracking: HRV, background HR, blood oxygen, sleep score
- Fall and crash detection with automatic emergency calling
- On-device Apple Intelligence powers a noticeably smarter Siri
- Bright OLED Always-On Retina display
Cons
- Only 2 reviews on this listing so far — the 5.0 rating isn't well-tested yet
- 24-hour battery life is short next to multi-day Android/Garmin rivals
- Amazon's listing doesn't publish an official water-resistance rating or watch weight
- GPS model requires a nearby iPhone or Wi-Fi for full functionality away from Bluetooth range
Ideal for: iPhone owners who want the deepest health-tracking feature set Apple offers and don't mind charging every night.
Reviews
Only 2 reviews so far, both 5 out of 5 — encouraging but too small a sample to call it proven.
