Editor's take
An entry-level unlocked Android phone with a 6.5-inch 90Hz display, a 50MP quad-pixel camera, and a large 5000mAh battery — one of the best-selling budget phones on Amazon.
The Moto G Play targets buyers who want a functional, reliable Android phone without flagship pricing. A Snapdragon 680 processor and 4GB of RAM handle everyday tasks and light gaming, while the 90Hz display and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos make media consumption feel a step above typical budget phones.
Its standout spec is battery life: a 5000mAh cell rated for over 46 hours of talk time. Storage is expandable up to 1TB via microSD, useful given the base 64GB is modest by today's standards. With over 2,000 reviews at 4.2 stars, it's one of the most widely purchased phones in this entire catalog, reflecting Moto G's reputation as a reliable budget choice.
Pros
- Very affordable at under $100
- Large 5000mAh battery with excellent rated battery life
- 90Hz display and stereo speakers are unusual at this price
Cons
- Only 4GB RAM and 64GB storage (expandable via microSD)
- 4G LTE only, no 5G support
- Splash-resistant only, not fully water resistant
Ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers who want a dependable everyday phone without flagship features or pricing.
